This prof. is TERRIBLE. Avoid him at all costs. Rather than admitting he does things wrong he blames everything on the students and, in turn, makes them feel bad about themselves. He makes mistakes all the time and if you read the book he makes courses MORE confusing. If you have him, I'm sorry. read the book, and try not to listen to him...
Terrible prof.. Class isn't difficult, but he doesn't teach anything so it's up to you to learn it. Blames you for his lack of teaching skill. When he goes over a topic, it starts with the most specific and briefly mentions the general. In the last exam, it was 40% based on something he showed in 4 Power Point slides. Stay away at all costs.
So confusing, terribly disorganized, insecure and rude. You cannot ask questions, slides are always filled with mistakes. Do not expect to learn anything from lecture, teach yourself and you might do ok. If you have to take him, make friends with a chem major.
taking the class was the worst mistake of my life. He is a terrible teacher, doesn't know how to teach and expects you do to all the work on your own. He always has mistakes on his slides and spends a lot of class time fixing it. The exams are very difficult, and the class will destroy your GPA. Taking his class would be a foolish mistake.
He is not the most organized. You MUST do the homework and read the textbook, he is not interested in summarizing. If he gives a worksheet know how to answer the entire worksheet. Don't expect to understand something based on courses. He goes on tangents often and waste's time. Exams are difficult. Only people who do well are the ones who took AP Chem.
He seems like a friendly person but his courses are pointless. We spend class working on sample problems that he gets wrong repeatedly which only makes the homework and exams more confusing since you must learn how to do the problems from the online homework. He uses a different textbook that is in a weird order and exams are difficult. friendly, but not intelligent
He is the worst teacher ever. his notes are useless and he does not help, he makes things worse when you go see him. His courses are a waste of time, you need the textbook to pass the class.
worst prof. that i have ever had. courses are out of order and make no sense. he rambles off topic and obviously does not know much about chemistry. our class corrected his quiz questions every time he handed them out. AVOID
I thought McGarrah was great. He's not the great lecturer, but he's very accommodating in office hours and the mastering chem projects he gives are also very accommodating. Just read the textbook and pay attention to the mastering chem and you'll be set. And the clicker questions are a great grade booster too.
I had just had him....STAY AWAY FROM HIM! I studied so difficult for this class, and I have learned absolutely nothing from listening to him speak. His exams are ridiculously difficult. I study so much, and I thought I would do really well. His exams just have the randomest questions on them. He gives a TON of hw online weekly too.
he is the WORST prof. ever, he doesn't follow the textbook, the mastering chem hws are based on chapters of the book he hasn't even talked about yet. courses are dull!! AVOID HIM COMPLETELY. exam are ridiculously difficult
McGarrah is a wonderful prof.! Only LAZY people would give him bad ratings. Yes, for science courses one must actually open the textbook every once in a while. This course is simple if you pay attention. I did not have to attend any office hours, rarely opened the textbook, and got an A. He is very accommodating, enthusiastic, and fun. Take him!!
worst prof. ive ever had by far.
Utterly useless, shouldn't be allowed to lecture for a class ever. friendly guy at least, just useless for a class.
courses = confusing. Better off not going and sitting in Milne reading the textbook. "This electron went to Tahiti!"
Worst prof. ever. Trust me. DO NOT TAKE HIMMMM
How this man was hired is beyond me. Taking this prof. was one of my biggest mistakes thus far. Don't even go to lecture, it's pointless and confusing. Read and teach yourself from the book and you will be far better off. His half a letter grade curve was also not enough. Exams were very difficult. BEWARE
Pointless courses. You're better off skipping class and reading the textbook on your own. Voluntary review sessions are a big help though. End of the year curve is great and it's not difficult to do well if you do all the work on your own. Makes things more complicated in class than they appear on exams. Confusing but the curve makes it worth it. |
